Men’s Golf Set to Open Spring Slate at LMU’s Spring Kick-Off Intercollegiate

ANDERSON, S.C. – After posting a pair of top-10 finishes in three fall tournaments, the Anderson University men's golf team is set to open its spring schedule, with the Trojans readying to compete at Lincoln Memorial's Kick-off Intercollegiate, which will be hosted by the Railsplitters at the St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla.

The 54-hole tournament (Par 72 – 7,136 Yards) is scheduled for 36 holes on Monday, followed by a final round of 18 on Tuesday.

Among the schools that will join the Trojans and host Railsplitters at the two-day tournament are North Greenville, Belmont Abbey, Emmanuel, Erskine, King, Lander, Newberry, Tusculum, Valdosta State, Wingate, Southern Wesleyan, Queens, North Georgia, Montevallo, Limestone, Lenoir-Rhyne, Georgia Southwestern, Flagler, Coker and Barton.

This marks the fourth straight year that the Trojans have opened the season at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate after finishing in a tie for third among 19 teams a year ago.

Reece Coleman paced the Black and Gold with a three-round, 7-under-par 209 a year ago. The Port Elizabeth, South Africa, native fired a school-record 64 during last year's opening round and finished in a tie for fifth. Calahan Keever finished in a three-way tie for 12th, while Daniel Coker claimed a tie for 49th place and Parker MacDonald finished in a tie for 96th place.

Keever, who posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the fall, paced the Trojans with a 71.33 unadjusted stroke average through nine rounds in the fall, while Coleman was close behind with a 72.56 unadjusted average. Freshman Simon Wright recorded a 73.56 stroke average, with sophomore Daniel Coker notching a 75.67 average.
