DeVaux and Conlin Named First-Team Academic All-District

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University standouts Emily Conlin and Meghan DeVaux have been named to the 2019 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), early Thursday afternoon.

The team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Conlin is a two-time Academic All-America honoree and has been named an Honorable Mention All-American twice during her stellar career by the D2CCA. She is a member of SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the AU Dean's List.

The Glendale, Ariz., native has captured South Atlantic Conference Specialist of the Week four times this season and is a three-time First-Team All-SAC honoree and currently leads the SAC in assists, assists per set, while ranking 13th in digs and 17th in digs per set. Earlier this season, Conlin took over the top spot in the school record books with nearly 4,900 career assists.

She is majoring in Business with concentrations in Computer Information Systems and Data Analytics, while carrying a 4.0 GPA.

DeVaux was one of only two sophomores to earn a spot on the District 3 squad and has played in every match this season, while starting 19 matches. The native of Myrtle Beach, S.C., is third on the team in digs and digs per set, while ranking 21st in the SAC in total digs and 27th in digs per set. DeVaux has recorded double-figure digs in 16 matches this season, including a career-high 20 in the mid-September road win over Coker.

DeVaux is a member of the AU Dean's List and a member of SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

She is majoring in Kinesiology and also sports a 4.0 GPA

Joining DeVaux and Conlin from the South Atlantic Conference were Taylor du Bray of Coker College, Helen Hampton of Lenoir-Rhyne and Logan Witt from Queens University of Charlotte.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
