ANDERSON, S.C. – Looking to capture its fourth win of the early season, the Anderson University volleyball team will travel to South Atlantic Conference-foe Newberry Tuesday night, with first-serve versus the Wolves at Eleazer Arena slated for 7 p.m.

The Trojans
Anderson (3-2, 1-1 SAC) has won three of its last four outings and is coming off a four-set win road over Coker three days ago in Hartsville, S.C.

The Trojans continue to rank in the top half of the conference in kills (214), kills per set (12.59/set), hitting percentage (.178), assists (205), assists per set (12.06/set), service aces per set (1.71/set), solo blocks (10) and points per set (16.1/set).

Classmate Meghan DeVaux is seventh in the SAC with 75 digs and stands eighth with her 4.41 digs per set.

Senior Hailee Wilhelm leads the Trojans and ranks fifth in the league with her .327 hitting percentage, while senior Emily Conlin has two double-doubles on the season and is second in the SAC in both assists (184) and assists per set (10.82). Freshman Lindsay McCurley is tied for eighth in the SAC in aces per set (.47/set).

Newberry
The Wolves, who posted an 8-19 overall record a year ago, including a 3-17 mark in conference action, were a preseason pick to finish 11th in the 2019 SAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Newberry (2-4, 0-2 SAC) has dropped two straight decisions after capturing wins over Southern Wesleyan and Rollins at the season-opening Flagler Invitational. The Wolves have opened league action by dropping identical 3-1 decisions to Coker and No. 24 Wingate, respectively.

Junior middle hitter Zoe Dinkins was named Preseason Second-Team All-Conference after starting all 27 matches last season and being named to the All-SAC Honorable Mention squad. She was the conference statistical champion in blocks per set with 1.37 and set the school record for total blocks (136), block assists (112), and blocks per set (1.37). She also ranked fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.293) and was second on the team in total kills with 194.

Freshman Avery Webb is second in the SAC in both aces (13) and aces per set (0.65).

The Series vs. Newberry
The Trojans will be seeking their 12th win in the last 13 meetings with Newberry after sweeping the season series with the Wolves last year.

The Trojans and Wolves have met 26 times over the past 21 seasons, with AU holding an 18-8 advantage in the overall series that dates back to the 1999 campaign. The two squads met just once between 2005 and 2009, with 15 of the 26 overall matchups coming since the Trojans joined the SAC in 2010. AU claimed the first three league meetings, with Newberry then winning three straight before Anderson swept the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 regular-season series.
