Women’s Tennis Finishes up Fall Season

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's tennis team has finished up a very successful fall season winning all three team matches while also representing AU well in the individual tournaments.

The Black and Gold defeated three Conference Carolinas opponents to move to 3-0 heading into the spring season. The Trojans blanked both Converse and North Greenville, 9-0 while defeating Emmanuel, 7-2.

Senior Rebecca Bruning and sophomores Jennifer Holcombe, Laura Dean and Jacqueline Olivia competed at the Francis Marion Invitational tournament played at the end of September. Dean and Bruning finished sixth and seventh, respectively in the singles first flight backdraw while Olivia placed sixth and Holcombe tenth in the singles second flight backdraw.

Bruning and Dean teamed up in the doubles portion of the FMU Invitational earning a third place finish in the doubles first flight while Holcombe and Olivia finished sixth in the doubles second flight backdraw.

Playing in the ITA Individual Tournament, Bruning and Dean lost in the round of 32 while as a pairing in the doubles portion, finished in the top eight.

Anderson begins its spring season on Saturday, February 4 when it host Peach Belt foe Columbus State. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the AU Tennis Complex.
