North Georgia Defeats Trojans

Anderson, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer could not recover from three first half goals by No. 19 North Georgia, falling 3-0 on Wednesday evening at the Anderson Civic Center.

With the setback, the Trojans drop to 5-5 overall, while the Nighthawks improve to 10-1 overall.

North Georgia fought off an early first half surge by the Trojans, settling in to score three goals in the first 45 minutes of action.

North Georgia's Taylor Malasek received a cross from Rosie Embley, heading the ball in from close range during the 17th minute of action. Malasek scored again in the 40th minute, after a foul in the box, resulted in the made penalty kick.

The Nighthawks scored for the final time in the 42nd minute of play when Abbie Crane served a short pass to Dani Shartouny. Shartouny's one touch from close range put the Nighthawks up 3-0 heading into the second half.

The Trojans defended well in the second half of play, holding North Georgia scoreless.

North Georgia outshot the Black and Gold 31 (14) – 16 (6), while claiming the corner kick edge, 7-2.

BETWEEN THE POSTS

AU'S Madison Paige earned four saves in the first half of play, while freshman keeper Jeanette Campbell was credited with seven saves during the second half of action.

North Georgia's Morgan Ramby recorded six saves on the evening.

NEXT UP

Anderson returns to South Atlantic Conference action when it host Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.
