Women's Soccer Signs Six For The 2019 Season

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's soccer program is looking to build off of a 2018 season where the Trojans team advanced to the postseason for the seventh time in eight seasons. The Black and Gold finished the season with an overall record of 7-8-1, falling to Catawba, 1-0, in the quarterfinal round of the South Atlantic Conference Championship. The 2019 signing class features six future Trojans who will look to make an immediate impact for the 2019 fall season.

The Black and Gold welcome: Jeanette Campbell (Piedmont, S.C./Powdersville High School), Alexia Chacon (Cooper City, Fla./College Academy), Spencer Heming (Cincinnati, Ohio./Turpin High School), Sarah Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West High School), Zoe Newell (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill High School) and Haley Sanneman (Charlotte, N.C../Weddington High School), to the team for the upcoming 2019 campaign.

Name: Jeanette Campbell

Club: Carolina Elite Soccer Academy
Height: 6-0"
Position: Goalkeeper
Major: Kinesiology
Hometown: Piedmont, SC

Reasons why Anderson University was chosen: "I chose Anderson University because it was an overall best fit for me athletically, academically, socially and spiritually. I believe that Anderson will help me grow as a person and player."

Accomplishments: 2017 and 2018 Region Champions, Powdersville Varsity Girls Soccer Team MVP (2017), Powdersville Varsity Girls Soccer Defensive MVP (2018), Region 2-AAA All-Region Player of the Year (2017), Varsity Girls All-Region Selection (2017 & 2018), Greenville News All-Upstate Selection (2018), SCYSA 00' State Cup Champions (2018 & 2019).

Jacobs on Campbell: "Jeanette has incredible raw talent and athleticism as a goalkeeper. She is fearless and commanding. Jeanette is also completely bought into AU and I can't wait to have her on campus!"

Accomplishments: Florida ODP state team

Jacobs on Alexia: "Alexia immediately impressed us at camp with her technical ability and communication. She is very knowledgable about the game and had an immediate presence on the field. Alexia's courageous nature is a great fit for our team culture and I look forward to her joining our program this fall."

Position: Center/Outside Back
Major: Kinesiology
Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Reasons why Anderson University was chosen: "I chose Anderson University because it had everything I wanted in a college. I have always loved the south and the family aspect at AU was the biggest factor in my decision. AU was ultimately the best fit for me athletically and academically."

Accomplishments: Defensive MVP all four years of HS, 2nd Team All-Conference (2016), 1st Team All-Conference (2017), 2nd Team All-State (2017), 1st Team All-Area (2017), 1st Team All-Conference (2018), 1st Team All-Region (2018), Captain and Club Team Captain (2018).

Jacobs on Spencer: "Spencer has great vision and ability to go forward from the backline She will not only help us shut down opponents, but she will help generate the attack. Spencer will be a great fit for our school and program"

Accomplishments: Varsity Defensive MVP, Schafer-Kalkhoff Award (2 years)

Jacobs on Sarah: "Sarah is extremely competitive, aggressive and fearless. Her skill-set matches her determination and work rate. I am excited to see Sarah's leadership shine as soon as she steps on campus!"

Accomplishments: State Champion – 3 years

Jacobs on Zoe: "Zoe has great technical ability and reads the game well. She will be instrumental in helping us keep possession and switch the point of attack. Zoe will be a great fit for our school and program."

Accomplishments: State Champion – 2 years

Jacobs on Haley: "Haley is an extremely versatile player. Her size, athleticism and physicality will pair nicely with her ability to hold onto the ball and connect with teammates. She isn't afraid to take risks and create opportunities. We are excited to have Hanley on the field!"
