Women’s Soccer Drops Season Opener

ANDERSON, S.C – Despite turning up its efforts in the second half of play, Anderson University women's soccer dropped its season opener, 2-0, against nonconference opponent Georgia College on Thursday evening at Trojan Stadium.

With the loss, the Trojans fall to 0-1 on the young season while Georgia College moves to 1-0.

Georgia College struck late in the 18th minute on a perfectly placed free kick from the top of the 18 by Amanda Bartholomew to push ahead, 1-0. Bartholomew then connected with Alyssa Bergamini just before half to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.

The Black and Gold pushed hard in the second half outshooting Georgia College 4-3, but failed to get it past keeper Ashlee Graham. Graham went the distance recording two saves on the night.

The Bobcats outshot the Trojans 10-6 for the game while holding a 5-1 corner kick advantage.

Anderson travels to North Georgia on Saturday for a 6 pm kick-off.
