Trojans Close out Regular Season Play in Dominant Fashion with 91-71 Win over Catawba

Salisbury, N.C. – The Anderson University women's team continued its stellar play closing out regular season action with a, 91-71, dominating performance over South Atlantic Conference opponent Catawba on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym.

With the victory, the Trojans move to 26-2 overall and 20-0 in SAC play while the Indians drop to 13-14 overall and 8-12 in conference action.

KEY STATS

  • The Trojans shot 50.7 % for the game, while draining 14-of-32(43.8%) from behind the arc.
  • Anderson was credited with a season-high 14 blocked shots with six different Trojans recording at least two or more.
  • The Black and Gold win the edge on the glass, 42-41.

 NOTES

-Junior Alexy Mollenhauer scored a game-high 28 points while pulling down 7 rebounds. Mollenhauer also was credited with a game-high three blocked shots.
-Senior Ace Easter netted 26 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Easter also blocked two shots and dished out three assists.
-Junior Madison Baggett dropped in 16 points while collecting seven rebounds and dishing out eight assists. Baggett also blocked two shots and collected a steal on the defensive end.
-Sophomore Taylor Hair scored eight points while grabbing five rebounds. Hair was also given credit for two swipes on shot attempts.
- Catawba placed three players in double-digit scoring with reserve Shemya Stanbeck scoring a team-high 17 points.  
-The Black and Gold's 24 straight victory sets the AU all-time win streak previously accomplished by the 2004-05 team.
–The Trojans unblemished 20-0 regular season SAC record is the best finish by AU. The best finish prior to this season was 20-2 by the 2014-15 squad.

Anderson welcomes Catawba to the Abney Athletic Center on Wednesday for the SAC Quarterfinal Round. Tip-off is slated for 7 pm.
