Women’s Basketball Releases 2018-19 Schedule

ANDERSON, S.C. Anderson University third year head coach Jonathon Barbaree has released his 2018-19 schedule on Thursday, which features matchups with several teams that reached the NCAA Tournament.

"We are so excited to begin our season with an exhibition game at North Carolina State," stated head coach Barbaree. "Put aside the fact to have the opportunity to play a Power 5 school, but to have the opportunity to play where the legendary Kay Yow coached is truly an honor."

The 2018-19 season will officially begin at the Conference Challenge with a rematch of the Trojans 2017-18 opener opponent, Clayton State. The Black and Gold defeated the Lakers 79-36 to avenge a loss handed out by Lakers to open up the 2016-17 campaign.

"The Conference Challenge means so much from a rankings standpoint and it is a great opportunity to lay a foundation for the rest of the season, said Barbaree. "We will face two very good Peach Belt Conference members in Clayton State and Georgia College."

The Trojans will play a total of eight nonconference games including a matchup with PBC powerhouse Lander and four of the 20 scheduled South Atlantic Conference games will be mixed in to end 2018. Anderson will crank back up on Jan. 2nd to complete the competitive SAC slate beginning with a four-game road swing.

"We have a tough conference with great players and great coaches, noted Barbaree. "The four-game road stretch after Christmas break will certainly be a challenge, but our preseason efforts and nonconference schedule will have us ready to compete."

The Black and Gold closed the 2017-18 season with a 20-11 overall record while finishing in the third slot in regular season SAC action. Anderson advanced to the SAC Championship semifinals before falling to SAC foe Wingate.

The Trojans earned an at-large berth into the NCAA's as the No. 8 seed falling to the No. 1 seed Carson-Newman in the opening round.

Anderson will play seven of its first twelve contests in the friendly confines of the Abney Athletic Center.
