Trojans Seeded Seventh in NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After a five-year hiatus, the Anderson University softball team has earned a seventh-seed in the NCAA's Southeast Region and will face second-seeded Carson-Newman on Thursday, as announced by the NCAA selection Committee on Monday.

The top two teams in the region rankings, North Georgia and Carson-Newman, will each host half of the eight-team field for the Southeast Region, with the Trojans squaring off against the Eagles at 1 p.m. in Jefferson City, Tenn., at The Vick.

Lincoln Memorial (35-13), the No. 3 seed, will follow the opening matchup by playing sixth-seeded Wingate (32-17) at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Thursday's contest will mark the fourth overall appearance by Anderson with the Trojans winning its first ever Southeast Regional appearance in 2013, before falling in the Super Regionals to Armstrong Atlantic. AU will square off against South Atlantic Conference foe Carson-Newman (28-10), who the Trojans defeated twice this season (2-1) which included a 13-11 victory over the Eagles to claim the SAC Tournament Title.

The other half of the double elimination event features top-seeded North Georgia (42-11) playing host to eighth-seeded Lees-McRae (21-17) in Dahlonega, Ga., while fourth-seeded Coker (31-17) faces fifth-seeded Young Harris (37-17).

The two winners will advance to a two-out-of-three Super Regional, slated for May 17-18. The winner of the Super Regional will join the other Super Regional winners in the NCAA National Finals, scheduled to be held May 23-27 in Denver, CO.
