ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University softball team held its annual alumnae game in conjunction with Homecoming this past Saturday at the AU Softball Complex.
Former student-athletes (27) who donned the Black and Gold for Anderson hit the turf for a little friendly competition and bragging rights. Players were divided into two teams for a seven-inning game.
"It was a great showing of appreciation to our university and softball program by those who returned to participate", said head coach Tommy Hewitt. "This was absolutely the best turnout yet. It was really a good feeling to see their families and children fill the seats in the stadium to almost a standing room crowd. It was truly a great day."
Anderson will open its 2018 campaign on Friday, Feb. 2 when it welcomes nonconference opponent Southern Wesleyan to the AU Softball Complex. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 3:30 p.m.
