Track and Field Opens Indoor Slate at JDL College Kick-off Classic

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams recorded eleven top-20 finishes at the JDL Kick-off Classic, Saturday, as the Trojans opened their respective indoor seasons at the JDL Fast Track indoor track and field facility.

In the women's 400 meters, junior Jasmine Barmore crossed the finish line in 25th place in a time of 1:03.70, while senior Madison Seay (1:02.73) claimed the 28th slot. Freshman Katharine Landry claimed 19th in the women's 800 meters in a time of 2:40.57.

Freshman Regan Appleby finished 14th in the shot put with a toss of 11.24 meters, with Landry claiming 29th with a distance of 9.46 meters. Senior JoLyn Copeland nearly matched her career-best in the women's weight throw with a distance of 14.61 meters. The Swansea, S.C., native finished seventh.

On the men's side, freshman Logan Horning finished fourth in the men's 3,000 meters in a time of 9:00.28, while classmate Derek Hildebrand (9:38.80) claimed 11th place. Junior Jordan Anderson claimed 23rd place in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.09 and finished 39th in the 400 meters a time of 53.83, with sophomore Robert Jones claiming 47th place in a time of 55.21.

The freshman tandem of Matthew Hobbs (56.96) and Kyle Booth (57.67) finished 58th and 59th, respectively in the 400 meters. Freshman Allen Foy claimed 35th place in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:18.21.

Freshman Scott Sanford claimed 21st place in the shot put with a toss of 9.71 meters, with senior Anthony Aleruchi posting a personal best distance of 14.15 meters in the weight throw to claim eighth place, while sophomore Connor Wheatley (11.79 meters) and freshman Evan Francis (10.51 meters) finished 17th and 18th, respectively.

Anderson will get back in action, Saturday at the Clemson Opener, scheduled at the Tiger's Indoor Track and Field Complex.
