Trojans Score Two Late Goals to Force Extra Play; 2-2 (2OT)

KNOXVILLE, TENN. –Anderson University men's soccer rallied back in the final five minutes of regulation to force extra play resulting in a 2-2 draw with South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial on Saturday evening at Sansom Field.  

With the draw, the Trojans move to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in SAC action while the Railsplitters move to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.

Lincoln Memorial scored both of its goals in the first half of action. Victor Peres scored his fourth goal of the year just inside the 4th minute while Miquel Reis scored his second goal of the year at the 40th minute.

The Trojans remained poised using the opportunities they created to score goals in the 85th and 86th minute. AU's senior Gabriel Homem headed in a pass from junior Jhon Vaca to cut the lead in half. Less than a minute and a half later, Homem punched in a shot from the left corner to tie the match at 2-2.

Neither team could score in the extra 20 minutes of action resulting in a draw.

LMU outshot Anderson 17(4) – 15(6) while also holding a slight corner kick advantage 8-6.

Anderson's Gal Elyashiv was credited with two stops on the evening while LMU' Caleb Cothrin recorded three saves.

Anderson return home to host SAC opponent Queens on Wednesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
