Rutter Named Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. –Anderson University men's soccer head coach Michael Zion has announced the hiring of Jon Rutter as the team's new assistant coach, announced by Zion on Tuesday.

The Birmingham, England native graduated from Erskine College in 2014 where he excelled for the Flying Fleet men's soccer program. Rutter earned Conference Carolinas All-Conference honors in 2011, 2012 and 2014 while leading the team as its captain to their first Conference Carolinas Championship in 2014.

"Jon is a personable hardworking coach," said Zion. "The players, program and athletic department as a whole will benefit tremendously by his appointment."

Upon graduation Jon was hired by Coerver Coaching as Regional Director of Coaching before attending Anderson University where he earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

 "I am excited for the chance to coach at the collegiate level at such a fantastic University," said Rutter. "I would like to thank Coach Zion and Vice President of Athletics Bert Epting for this wonderful opportunity to be part of the future success of the Anderson men's soccer program. I'm looking forward to getting started alongside Coach Zion and this promising group of players and working towards a successful season for the Anderson Trojans."

Anderson will begin fall practice in mid-August with its 2018 campaign kicking off at home on August 30th.
