TURLOCK, Calif. – Led by junior Jake Miller's season-best three-round, 4-under-par 211, the Anderson University men's golf team wrapped up the regular season by finishing in 14th place, Tuesday at the 46th Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational.
The 54-hole, three-round tournament was hosted by Stanislaus State on a 6,641-yard, par-72 Turlock Golf and Country Club course configuration.
Nationally eighth-ranked Chico State won the tournament by comfortable 19-stroke margin over both 32nd-ranked Stanislaus State and No. 18 Simon Fraser. Fourth-ranked Western Washington moved up two spots to claim fourth place, with No. 31 Cal State East Bay finishing fifth. No. 10 Sonoma State finished sixth, with 41st-ranked UC San Diego in the seventh slot.
Academy of Art and Cal State Dominguez Hills wrapped up the tournament deadlocked in eighth place, while No. 46 Concordia (Ore.) finished 10th. Dominican (CA), Holy Names University, Cal State San Bernardino, Anderson, Hawaii-Hilo, Notre Dame de Namur and Biola rounded out the 17-team field.
Chico State's Josh McCollum fired a three-round, 10-under-par 206 to claim individual honors by five shots over Cal State East Bay's Will Barnett, Stanislaus State's Michael Jura III and Simon Fraser's Aidan Goodfellow.
With the Trojans' lowest three-round total of the year, Miller finished tied for fifth, six shots off the pace. Sophomore Cal Brock posted a three-round 226 and claimed a share of 53rd place, while senior Grayson Bell wrapped up the two-day tourney tied for 69th following a 234. Fellow senior Cole Jefferys finished alone in 86th place after notching a three-round 247 and sophomore Colt Martin finished in 88th place after posting a 255.
The Trojans are scheduled to get back on the course at the South Atlantic Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Coker, April 14-16, at the Camden (S.C.) Country Club.
