GREENWOOD, S.C. – Junior Jake Miller fired a three-round, 2-under-par 214 to lead the Anderson University men's golf team, as the Trojans finished in 22nd place Tuesday at the Bearcat Classic, which was hosted by Lander on a par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club layout.
In a field including four teams ranked in the top-33 nationally, No. 11 Lincoln Memorial won the team title by four shots over 32nd-ranked Clayton State, with the host Bearcats claiming third place. No. 36 Georgia Southwestern and 37th-ranked Newberry shared fourth place, while Belmont Abbey and Delta State finished in a tie for sixth. Young Harris and Queens finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with North Georgia and Flagler deadlocked in 10th place. Wingate claimed 12th place, with Mount Olive finishing 13th.
Lenoir-Rhyne fell from seventh place following Monday's opening rounds and finished 14th, while Erskine, Barton, West Georgia, Georgia College, Coker, Catawba, King and Anderson rounded out the 22-field team.
Lincoln Memorial's Dan Bradbury (69-68-71=208) led the 54-hole tourney wire-to-wire and claimed individual medalist honors by two shots over Georgia Southwestern's Vincent Norman (71-70-69=210), who jumped up from a tie for sixth place on Monday.
Miller vaulted from a share of 16th place following Monday's second round and claimed a share of fifth place. Senior Grayson Bell finished in a tie for 80th place, while sophomore Cal Brock finished in a tie for 94th. Classmate Colt Martin finished in a tie for 108th and senior Cole Jefferys rounded out the Trojan contingent alone in 110th place.
The Trojans will wrap up the regular season by traveling to the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, which will be hosted by Stanislaus State on Monday and Tuesday at the Turlock Golf and Country Club, in Turlock, Calif.
