Shaw Earns All-Southeast Region Honors

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – After being named First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference nearly two weeks ago, Anderson University sophomore Randall Shaw has earned Second-Team All-Southeast Region accolades, as announced by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), Monday morning.

Shaw, who was the SAC Freshman of the Year a season ago, led the Trojans and ranked second in the conference this season with his 20.6 points per game average. The native of Greenville, S.C., was 11th in the league with 67 treys on the season and ranked 14th with his 40.6 percent accuracy from long range, while equaling his career-high with 94 free throws.

The 6-foot-3 guard is just 31 points away from becoming the 13th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Shaw reached double-figure scoring in 19 games, while reaching the 20-point plateau in 14 contests and pouring in a career-best 45 points in AU's win over Brevard last January.

The scoring outburst equaled the 19th-highest output of the season in NCAA D-II this season and eclipsed former Trojan standout Chandler Hash's 44 points in a 2014 SAC Tournament semifinal win over Coker. It was the most points scored for an AU player since Denzail Jones poured in 50 points in a 113-106 double overtime win over Newberry in the 2012 SAC Tournament semifinals.

Augusta senior guard Keshun Sherrill was voted the Southast Region Player-of-the-Year.

Sherrill, the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year, led the Jaguars to a 24-7 season and a No. 3 ranking in the NCAA Southeast Region.

Joining Sherrill on the Southeast Region first team were guards Charles Clark of Carson-Newman, Luquon Choice of Lincoln Memorial and A.J. Clark of Pfeiffer, along with forward Javonte Douglas of Montavello.

Selected to the second team were guards Shaun Stewart and Shaq Dance of Limestone, Jalin Alexander of Queens, C.J. Wilson of Young Harris, and Shawn. Forward Chris Perry from Lincoln Memorial University rounded out the Southeast Region second team.

Players selected to the region first team will now be listed on the D2CCA All-American national ballot. The All-American team will be announced Monday, March 20.

The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
