Trojans Fall to 11th-Ranked Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Redshirt freshman Carlos Dotson equaled his career-high with 24 points, but the Anderson men's basketball team wrapped up its regular-season road slate with a 93-71 setback to No. 11 Lincoln Memorial, Wednesday night at Tex Turner Arena.

Anderson slipped to 13-14 overall and 11-10 in South Atlantic Conference play with its first loss in four outings, while Lincoln Memorial improved to 23-4 overall and 18-3 in league action with its 13th consecutive win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Dotson posted 12 hard-earned points in each half and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore Randall Shaw added 14 points, with sophomore guard Andrew Boynton chipping in nine points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The game featured five lead changes in the first five minutes but the score was not deadlocked at all on the night. Neither team built more than a three-point lead until the Railsplitters used a 15-0 run to turn a one-point AU lead into a 22-8 advantage at the 9:27 mark, as the Trojans went cold and endured a scoring drought of more than seven minutes, while connecting on just 6-of-21 through the first 12 minutes of action.

With Dotson powering for four of the Trojans' next six points and fueling an 11-4 outburst, Anderson trimmed the LMU lead to just 26-19 with 5:19 on the clock. But the Railsplitters countered by closing the half on a 19-7 surge and took a 45-26 lead to intermission.

Second Half
The Railsplitters opened their largest lead of the contest at that point, at 49-28, less than two minutes into the second half, while AU chipped away and cut the deficit nearly in half on the strength of a 20-10 scoring outburst and setting the score at 59-48 with just less than 13 minutes on the clock on Boynton's 3-pointer.

However, it was as close as the Trojans would get, as the Railsplitters responded with a decisive 18-5 run over the next five minutes to build a 77-53 advantage with 7:54 remaining.

UP NEXT
The Trojans will be looking to avenge an earlier six-point setback and celebrate Senior Day when they wrap up the regular season by playing host to Wingate, Saturday afternoon. Tip-off versus the Bulldogs at the Abney Center is set for 4 p.m.
