Men’s Basketball Adds Four for 2016-17

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University head men's basketball coach Jeff Brookman has added Lester Rochez, Luke Musselwhite, Onteus Anderson and Warren Vinson to the Trojans' roster for the 2016-17 campaign.

Rochez is a 6-foot-9, 220-pound center from Acworth, Ga., who earned an associate's degree last May from Central Georgia Technical College, spent two seasons under the tutelage of head coach Reco Dawson. Rochez helped lead his team to an overall record of 20-13 during the 2015-2016 season.

"Lester is a long, athletic center that will compete and play hard on both ends of the floor," said Brookman. "His addition brings much needed size and athleticism to our center position. He will make an immediate impact on our program and University both on and off the court."

Musselwhite, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward from Huntsville, Ala., played at Shelton State Community College last season and also graduated in May with an associate's degree. Head coach Barry Muhon's Buccaneers finished the season with a 23-11 overall record. Prior to Shelton State, Musselwhite spent two years, including a redshirt season, at Faulkner University. He graduated from Buckhorn High School in 2013.

"Luke is a versatile stretch forward that can play both on the perimeter and around the basket," added Brookman. "He has very good size, plays extremely hard and will be able to space the floor with his ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter."

Anderson, a native of Conway, S.C., is a 6-4 170-pound wing who competed at Gray Collegiate Academy in Columbia, S.C. for the last two seasons. He helped lead head coach Dion Bethea's War Eagles to a stellar 20-3 record last season.

"Onteus is a long athletic wing that can play multiple perimeter positions," noted Brookman. "His versatility will be a huge asset to our roster. I truly believe that Onteus has a bright future with our program and that his best basketball is ahead of him."

Vinson is a native of Rock Hill, S.C. and a graduate of Spartanburg Methodist. The 6-foot, 170-pound guard helped lead SMC to a 26-7 overall record last season, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 10 tournament championship and an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament. Vinson was a standout prep player at Rock Hill High School.

"I am excited to add Warren to our roster," said Brookman. "He is strong, physical combo guard that can score the ball in a variety of ways. Warren will also compete defensively. During the year that I spent with him at SMC, Warren was by far the hardest worker in our program. He is a gym rat that loves the game."

"These four student athletes along with Tevin, Chance and Christian will make an immediate impact on our program. Our assistant coaches did an outstanding job helping put together a strong recruiting class," said Brookman. "They are all high character, selfless student-athletes who will represent our University the right way. From a basketball standpoint, this group addresses a lot of needs going into the 2016-2017 season. We have added versatility, athleticism and shooting to our roster. More importantly we have created competition and depth at every position."

Anderson is scheduled to open the season Friday, Nov. 11 at the South Atlantic Conference/Peach Belt Conference Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
