CENTRAL, S.C. – Sophomore Will Lindsey posted a pair of singles and a double, while driving in two runs and redshirt sophomore Chandler Castleberry drove in the game-winning run with a fifth inning single, as the Anderson baseball team snapped a three-game skid by defeating Southern Wesleyan, 3-2, Tuesday night at C. Keith Connor Field.

Anderson improved to 11-15 on the season, while Southern Wesleyan (12-14) dropped its second decision in three outings.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Castleberry also notched a second-inning single, while Joseph Strange reached base twice on a pair of walks. Jackson Strange scored the game-winning run after posting a one-out single in the fifth inning.

Junior left-hander Brent Reynolds (1-1) earned the win by tossing four full innings of relief. He allowed just one run on four hits, while walking three and striking out three. Cameron Hall tossed two innings of relief and allowed just two singles. Junior Christian Carpenter captured his seventh save of the season after working the ninth inning on the mound. The Polkton, N.C., native hit a batter and surrendered a single, while fanning one batter.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Southern Wesleyan capitalized on a two-out walk, followed by a double to claim a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning, while Lindsey knotted the score with a bases-loaded, two-run single in the top of the second.

After two scoreless innings, Jackson Strange beat out a single to the left side of the infield in the top of the fifth and moved into scoring position when Dillon Carpenter grounded out to the right side. Strange went to third on a passed ball and crossed the plate when Castleberry ripped a two-out single back up the middle.

The Warriors pulled within one in the bottom of the fifth, with neither team able to push a run across over the final four innings.

Southern Wesleyan threatened in their final at-bat by getting the tying run on second with one out, but the Warriors were unable to take advantage, as Carpenter recorded the second out on a fielder's choice and induced the final batter to bounce out to second.
