Women’s Cross Country Tumbles to Seventh in Latest USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll

NEW ORLEANS – Following a 10th-place finish in withering heat at last weekend's Queen City Invite, the Anderson University women's cross country team slipped from second to seventh in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Southeast Region Rankings, as released by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Queens, the two-time NCAA Southeast Region defending champions, held onto the No. 1 spot for the third consecutive week, while No. 2 Wingate, No. 3 Flagler, and No. 4 North Georgia each moved up one spot from their previous ranking a week ago, while Lenoir-Rhyne comes in at No. 5 for their first top-5 appearance since 2014 when they were ranked fourth in the preseason.

Augusta also moved up one spot into sixth, while the Trojans checked in at No. 7. UNC Pembroke, Mount Olive and Columbus State remained unchanged in the final three spots.

Anderson is slated to get back in action, Friday, Oct. 11 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge.
