Women’s Cross Country is Third in First USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll; Men Ranked Fourth

NEW ORLEANS – As they were in the preseason, the Anderson University women's and men's cross country teams are ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) first Southeast Regional Rankings, as released Tuesday afternoon.

There was no movement in either the men's or women's rankings throughout the Southeast Region, with both polls remaining exactly as they were in the preseason. The Trojan women's squad, which won the Southern Wesleyan Warrior Invitational last Friday night, remained one of four South Atlantic Conference teams in the USTFCCCA poll, along with Queens (first), Wingate (fifth) and Lincoln Memorial (10th).

The Peach Belt Conference placed five teams in the women's poll, led by North Georgia at No. 4. Augusta was sixth, with Flagler in seventh place. Georgia College was tabbed eighth, while UNC Pembroke was ninth. At No. 2, Mount Olive was the lone Conference Carolinas representative on the women's side.

The SAC placed five schools in the men's poll, while the Peach Belt saw four squads ranked and Mount Olive again represented the Conference Carolinas.

Queens also paced the men's poll, with Mount Olive remaining in the second spot. Augusta checked in at No. 3, with the Trojans at No. 4 after winning the Warrior Invitational title. Mars Hill was fifth, while Wingate held the sixth slot.

Columbus State, Georgia College, UNC Pembroke and LMU rounded out the top-10.

In a preview of the NCAA Southeast Regional, the Trojans return to action Saturday, Sept. 29, at the North Georgia Cross Country Invitational.
