Women’s Cross Country Wins Piedmont College Invitational

TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. – In its final tune-up before the South Atlantic Conference championships in two weeks, the Anderson women's cross country team wrapped up the regular season by winning the Piedmont College Invitational, Saturday morning.    

The win marked AU's third victory of the season after also bringing home the USC Upstate Eye Opener and USC Upstate Invitational titles, while senior Haylee Love took top individual honors in a time of 23:14.1. The Lexington, S.C., native also began the season by winning the USC Upstate Eye Opener.

Trojan runners claimed the top four spots and seven of the top 10 slots, with junior Allyson Malone crossing the finish line in second place in a time of 23:15.7. Freshman Olivia Evans, who was coming off a win in last week's USC Upstate Invitational, claimed third place in a time of 23:33.2. Junior Abigail Bozarth (23:46.5) was fourth, while freshman Lydia Gambrell (24:07.3) finished eighth.

Sophomore Morgan Bridges crossed the line in ninth place in a time of 24:10.8, with senior Hannah Sanford (24:10.9) just behind in 10th place. Freshman Katherine Lewis finished 15th in a time of 25:26.7, while classmate Olivia Rish (25:51.6) claimed 20th place. Sophomore Emily Olson crossed the finish line in 24th place in a time of 26:18.7, with junior Maddie Buddenberg (26:30.5) taking the 30th spot. Freshman Natalie Ardis rounded out the Trojan contingent in 42nd place in a time of 29:57.5
  
Anderson is scheduled to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships in Hickory, N.C., Oct. 21.
