Conlin Named First-Team Academic All-District

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University standout Emily Conlin has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), early Thursday afternoon.

The team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Conlin earned Academic All-America Honors last season and was named Honorable Mention All-America last season by the D2CCA. She is a member of SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the AU Dean's List.

The Glendale, Ariz., native earned D2CCA Second-Team All-Region accolades earlier this week after capturing South Atlantic Conference Specialist of the Week four times during the regular season. She is a two-time First-Team All-SAC honoree and currently leads the SAC in assists, aces and aces per set, while ranking 12th in digs and 15th in digs per set.

In less than three full seasons Conlin already ranks third in the AU record books with nearly 3,800 career assists. She is majoring in Business/Computer Information Systems and carries a 4.0 GPA.

Joining Conlin were Taylor du Bray of Coker College and Victoria Norwood from Limestone as the only student-athletes from an NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III or NAIA school in the Palmetto State to earn the academic honor.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
