Trojan Volleyball Tabbed Fourth in NCAA Southeast Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Anderson University volleyball team is ranked fourth in the Southeast Region in the NCAA's initial Division II Southeast Region rankings of the season, as released Wednesday afternoon.

Wingate (23-0), which is receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Poll, heads up the first of three regional rankings. The Bulldogs are alone in first place in the South Atlantic Conference standings and are the lone unbeaten team in NCAA Division II. USC Aiken is atop the Peach Belt Conference with a 16-3 overall record and captured the second spot in the rankings.

Augusta, which is the lone nonconference team to defeat Anderson this season, is second in the seven-team PBC standings and captured third place in the first weekly NCAA Poll. The Trojans are 24-3 overall and have won eight of their last nine outings and corralled the fourth slot in the rankings.

Lenoir-Rhyne is 16-7 overall and garnered the fifth slot, while Lincoln Memorial (14-7), Lander (19-5), Georgia College (11-9), Mars Hill (14-9) and Carson-Newman (11-10) round out the 10 teams in the poll.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.

The three regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through November 7, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday night, Nov. 11, at 10 p.m.

The Trojans play host to Wingate Friday night, with first-serve at the Abney Athletic Center slated for 6 p.m. AU is scheduled to wrap up the regular season with a two-match road trip, Nov. 2-3, at Catawba and Queens, respectively.
