Burts and Mitter Named to NCAA Southeast Region All-Tournament Team

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – At the conclusion of the 2017 NCAA Southeast Region Volleyball Championship, the senior duo of Marissa Mitter and Rachel Burts were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Trojans, who were seeded fourth in their fourth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament, swept No. 5-seed Queens in last Thursday's quarterfinals, then took top-seed and eventual champion Flagler the full five-set distance before falling, 3-2 (16-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, 13-15) on Friday.

Mitter and Burts, who both garnered All-Southeast Region honors earlier in the week from both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), posted back-to-back stellar outings at Flagler Gymnasium.

Burts knocked down a combined 22 kills behind an impressive .436 hitting percentage, including a season-high 16 kills in the loss to the Saints. She committed just five errors in 39 swings, while coming up with four total blocks.

Mitter posted back-to-back double-doubles over the two-day span, while leading all players with 12 kills and adding a dozen digs in the three-set win over Queens. She had a match-high 22 kills against the Saints and notched her 16th double-double of the season by adding 15 digs.
