Trojans Sweep Weekly SAC Volleyball Honors for Second Time

ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the second time in three weeks, Anderson University outside hitter Marissa Mitter has earned AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week honors, while setter Emily Conlin has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week, as announced by the league office, Tuesday afternoon.

The tandem helped lead AU to four victories last week, including three conference wins, as the Trojans maintained their hold on first place in the league standings behind a school-record 19-match win streak – the fourth-longest streak in the nation. The Trojans began the week with a four-set road win over Lenoir-Rhyne last Tuesday, swept Livingstone at the Abney Athletic Center less than 24 hours later and captured back-to-back sweeps of Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial over the weekend to run their home unbeaten streak to 15 matches.

Conlin handed out 133 assists (12.09/set) in the four wins, while coming up with 35 digs, eight kills and three blocks. She posted her 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season with 53 assists and 16 digs in the win over L-R and added 29 assists and 10 digs in Saturday's sweep of LMU.

The Glendale, Ariz., native notched 42 assists and six digs in the three-set victory over Carson-Newman and chipped in nine assists and three digs in just one set of action in the sweep of Livingstone. She leads the conference in assists per set and is third in total assists.

The honor is Conlin's second of the season and fourth of her career.

Mitter earned AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week accolades for the third time this season after posting 47 kills (3.62/set), while recording 37 digs and four service aces during the week. She led all players with 17 kills and recorded her 11th double-double of the season by coming up with 13 digs in the win at Lenoir-Rhyne, then shared match-high honors with nine kills in the sweep of Livingstone.

The Redondo Beach, Calif., native again led all players with a match-high 15 kills and added 14 digs for her 12th double-double of the season as AU knocked off Carson-Newman on Senior Night and tallied six kills, nine digs and three aces in the Trojans' regular-season home finale on Saturday.

Mitter leads the SAC with 335 kills and 374.5 points and is second with 3.76 kills per set.

Anderson will close out the regular season with a two-match road swing, beginning at Tusculum, Friday night. First-serve versus the Pioneers is set for 7 p.m.
