NEW ORLEANS – Track and Field standouts Morgan Bridges and Madison Seay, along with Christopher Burton have earned All-Southeast Region accolades, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top three relay teams. The regions used for this award match those used during the cross country season.
For the Trojan women, Bridges earned the honor for the second straight year for her performances in the 800 meters, while Seay, a rising senior, claimed the recognition for her efforts in the 400 meter hurdles.
Bridges set a new school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:12.99 at Georgia's Torrin Lawrence Memorial earlier this month, while Seay posted a season-best time of 1:04.19 in the 400 meter hurdles at the South Atlantic Conference Championships in April.
A total of 640 women from 151 different institutions picked up 929 All-Region honors. Only three women's programs totaled 20 or more All-Region honors: Grand Valley State (31), Stonehill (27) and San Francisco State (21).
Burton, who earned First-Team All-America honors at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, brought home the all-region honor for his times in the 200 meter dash. The Johnston, S.C., native notched a season-best time (21.21) in the 200 meters at the SAC Championships.
On the men's side, a total of 688 athletes earned 935 All-Region honors from 176 different institutions. A total of eight programs had 20 or more All-Region selections, with Southern Connecticut leading the way with 34. Grand Valley State posted 24, followed by Tiffin with 23. Mount Olive and Texas A&M-Commerce both had 21 while Alabama-Huntsville, Pittsburg State and Queens (N.C.) notched 20 apiece.
