Track and Field Takes Four First-Place Finishes on Final Day of Susan Rouse Invitational

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Anderson track and field teams wrapped up their appearances at Southern Wesleyan's Susan Rouse Invitational on Sunday with four first-place finishes.

Sophomore Morgan Bridges won the women's 800 meters in a time of 2:18.98, with sophomore Jasmine Barmore claiming fifth place in a time of 2:31.49. Junpr Madison Seay won the women's 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.10.

JoLyn Copeland claimed fifth place in the women's discus throw with a distance of 32.03 meters. Junior Abigail Bozarth (4:59.37) and freshman Olivia Evans (5:00.79) finished 2-3 in the women's 1500 meter run, with freshman Olivia Rish taking seventh place in a time of 5:13.68. Sophomore Breck Jones crossed the finish line in 12th place in a time of 5:26.21, while Maddie Buddenberg was 16th in a time of 5:32.16. Sophomore Emily Olson (5:49.49) and freshman Natalie Ardis (6:57.68) claimed 18th and 31st place, respectively.

Junior Martha Coleman finished third in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 13:01.90, with senior Hannah Sanford bring home fourth place in the women's 5000 meters in a time of 19:59.69. Sophomore Emilee Edwards was 12th in the women's 400 meters in a time of 1:03.98, while the Trojan women's 4x400 meter relay squad finished second.

Senior Mason Hazel won the men's 1500 meters in a time of 4:01.48, while the freshman tandem of Joey Teachout (4:14.59) and Philip Quillen (4:14.95) claimed fifth and sixth place, respectively. Freshman Weston Hutto finished 14th in a time of 4:21.40, while sophomore Luke Horne was 20th in a time of 4:27.12. Freshman Hayden Tuten was 35th in a time of 4:43.73.

Anthony Aleruchi, who competed unattached, won the men's discus throw with a toss of 41.63 meters, with Connor Wheatley (33.01 meters) and Chandler Johnson (32.12 meters) claiming sixth place and seventh place, respectively. Aleruchi also claimed fifth place in the men's shot put with a toss of 12.28 meters, with Johnson earning 10th place with a distance of 10.97 meters and Wheatley taking home 12th place after a toss of 10.82 meters.

Freshman Cameron Owens-Hunter (1:56.64) and classmate Matthew Burgess (2:05.85) finished second and 17th, respectively in the men's 800 meters. Sophomore Jordan Anderson finished third in the men's 400 meters in a time of 50.05, with senior Rashod Monts taking home sixth place in a time of 50.99. Freshman Robert Jones finished fourth in the men's 400 meter hurdles in a time of 59.36.

Senior John Drummond finished ninth in the men's 5000 meter run in a time of 16:31.30, while freshman Riley Dixon was 19th in a time of 17:07.49 and freshman David Rolon finished 23rd in a time of 17:32.34, with the men's 4x400 meter relay squad finishing fourth

Next up for the Trojans are the South Atlantic Conference Championships, which will take place on April 19-20 at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, N.C.
