ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's tennis sophomore Mariam Bayatyan and men's golf junior Calahan Keever have been named the Jimmy John's Female and Male Athletes of the Week.
Bayatyan, a Brooklyn, N.Y., native helped lead the Trojans to two wins on the week and push their overall record to 5-0. Bayatyan won both singles and doubles matches vs Erskine and Emory & Henry, respectively.
Keever was named the SAC Varsity Gems Men's Golfer of the Week yesterday after firing a school-record 9-under-par 63 on Valentine's Day and winning his first outright career title at Lincoln Memorial's Spring Kick-off Intercollegiate.
The Greenville native saw his record-setting effort lift the nationally top-ranked Trojans to their fifth straight tournament victory, while setting a school record with his 54-hole 199.
Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
