Belton, S.C. – Anderson University women's tennis opened its 2021 season with a win over rival nonconference opponent Erskine, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Leda Poore Park. The Trojans move to 1-0 overall on the season, while the Flying Fleet drops to 0-2 overall.

After a strong showing by Erskine during the doubles play, the Black and Gold found themselves down, 1-0.

However, the Trojans were able to battle at every position and run the table in singles play to set the final score at 6-1.

"These girls compete hard at everything they focus on and today was just another of example of not quitting when we were down," said Director of Tennis Joey Eskridge.

"We lost the doubles point and won all six singles winning four of them in third sets," added Eskridge.

"This was the best Erskine team we have played in five years or more and our girls would not be denied the win," emphasized Eskridge. "It was great as a coach to see the team come out after an entire year of not competing to get a win like this. Very proud of my team."
