Women's Tennis Ends Regular Season South Atlantic Conference Play with Convincing Win over Coker; 7-2

 

 

HARTSVILLE, S.C. –The Anderson women's tennis team ended regular season conference play in convincing fashion defeating SAC opponent Coker, 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Coker Tennis Courts.

With the victory, the Trojans move to 10-10 overall and 5-5 in SAC play while the Cobras drop to 7-11 overall and 2-8 in conference action.

The Black and Gold earned the 3-0 advantage after the doubles portion. AU's Laura Dean and Jacqueline Olivia defeated Jennifer Mezei and Suzanna Mickey, 8-6 while Victoria Wuilloud and Ivey Welborn won over Charlotte Clarke and Jenna Gainey, 8-1. The Trojans duo Jennifer Holcombe and Delaney Wiggins battled hard winning, 8-6 over Julia Sorrells and Kelli Hurt.

 

The Trojans continued it solid play winning 4-of-6 singles matches to set the final score at 7-2.

Anderson will travel as the No. 6 seed to the third-seeded Queens Royals on Tuesday to begin the SAC Championship.
