ANDERSON, S.C. – Despite falling behind 2-1 after the doubles portion, the Anderson women's tennis team earned a key victory over SAC foe Carson-Newman, 5-4, on Tuesday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.
With the triumph, the Trojans move to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play while the Eagles fall to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in SAC action.
Carson-Newman took a 2-1 advantage after the doubles portion. No.2 tandem Ivey Welborn and Victoria Wuilloud defeated Alisa Liashova and Hannah Price, 8-2 to earn a point for the Black and Gold.
The Trojans were able to pick up four wins in the singles portion to claim the narrow 5-4 victory.
Anderson travels to SAC opponent Catawba on Wednesday. First-serve is slated for 1 p.m.
