ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson women's tennis fell, 5-3, to nonconference opponent Augusta on Thursday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.

With the setback, the Trojans drop to 2-2 overall while Augusta moves to 5-2 overall.

Anderson led 2-1 after the doubles portion with No. 1 pairing Laura Dean and Jacqueline Olivia (AU) defeating Eva Miralles-Miro and Maria Alice Vieira (AUG) 8-2. No. 3 tandem Ivey Welborn and Jennifer Holcombe (AU) won over Alejandra Arranz and Amelia Pinoargote (AUG), 8-6, to help the Black and Gold claim the early advantage.

AU's Dean quickly gave the Trojans a 3-1 lead after putting away Augusta's Eva Miralles-Miro (AUG) 6-0, 6-1, in singles action. However, the Jaguars came back strong winning the next four matches to earn the 5-3 victory.
