Late Goal Lifts Indians over Trojans; 1-0

Greenville, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer gave up a late goal, after a foul called in the box resulted in a successful penalty kick, to fall to South Atlantic Conference opponent Catawba, 1-0, on Saturday evening at Legacy Early College Field.  

With the loss, the Trojans fall to 7-7 overall and 4-5 in SAC action, while the Indians move to 11-2-2 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play.

After a scoreless 70 minutes of action, Anderson was called for a foul inside the box which resulted in an Indian penalty kick. Katie Beck drilled home the successful try to give the Indians a 1-0 advantage.

The Trojans backline and keeper Madison Paige made some tremendous stops with Paige being credited with four saves on the evening.

Catawba outshot Anderson 11 (6) – 8 (2), while claiming the corner kick edge, 4-0.

"It's always tough to lose a hard fought game against a good team on a penalty kick," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "Proud of the girls for their effort, but we have things to improve going into our last game and the conference tournament."
