Women’s Soccer Wins Road Contest at Mars Hill; 2-1

Mars Hill, N.C. – Anderson University women's soccer win its road South Atlantic Conference contest at Mars Hill, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Meares Stadium.

With the victory, the Trojans improve to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in conference action, while the Lions tumble to 1-9-1 overall and 1-4 in SAC play.

Junior Kirsten Armetta scored in the 31st minute of action, after receiving a pass from sophomore Erin Cepeda to put the Trojans up 1-0.

The Black and Gold struck again in the second half (69th minute) when Cepeda used a pass from senior Bethany Morgan, punching it past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.

Mars Hill was able to cut the lead in half with an unassisted Aubrey Scoggings goal in the 81st minute.

The Trojans backline controlled the match the remaining nine minutes to win their third conference match of the season.

Anderson outshot the Lions 17(8) – 8(6) while winning the corner kick edge, 6-1.
