Extensive Soccer Complex Renovations Underway at Anderson University

ANDERSON, SC – The athletic experience at Anderson University is getting a major upgrade.

Work crews this month started extensive renovations of the Trojan soccer complex, including the installation of a rubber granule-filled synthetic turf field system. Construction should wrap by August 23, around the time Anderson University students return to campus for the 2019-2020 academic year.

"What an exciting time to be a part of AU athletics," said Vice President for Athletics Dr. Bert Epting. "With the incredible support of the entire University family, we are embarking on a journey to make our men's and women's soccer programs not only the best in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), but also in the NCAA."

Dr. Epting said the facility upgrades will put Anderson's new complex among the best soccer facilities in the SAC. In addition to taking Trojan soccer to the next level athletically, Dr. Epting said the project will boost student recruitment efforts, improve the student-athlete experience and even help student-athletes be better students; with new lighting and a synthetic playing surface, student-athletes will be able to play in conditions that previously caused games to be postponed. Postponed games means more time out of the classroom.

"Our supporters, members of the community and our administration have shown great vision in supporting this project," Dr. Epting said. "This is truly a game-changer for Trojan athletics."
