Helm’s Huge Save Help Lift Trojans Over Erskine in Overtime; 1-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer goalie Abby Helm made an incredible diving save on a penalty kick to extend overtime to give the Trojans new life as the Trojans took advantage of their own penalty kick in the waning seconds of the first overtime period to defeat nonconference rival Erskine on Wednesday evening at Trojan Stadium.  

The Trojans move to 6-5-1 overall while the Flying Fleet settle for a 6-6-1 overall record.

- Anderson held a 20-15 advantage in shots on the night
- Erskine held a slight 9-8 edge in shots on goal
- The Trojans held a narrow 4-3 advantage in corner kicks
- AU's Helm recorded seven saves for the Trojans
- Erskine's Abby Schmidt collected seven saves for the match.
- Anderson's Kirsten Armetta scored her third goal of the season

NOTES

- Erskine was awarded a penalty kick in the 92nd minute which was saved by Helm
- The Black and Gold was awarded a penalty kick with 31 ticks remaining in the overtime. Armettta drilled kick past keeper to give AU the 1-0 victory
- The Anderson-Erskine series now sits at 13-10 all-time
- Anderson won one point towards the coveted Beville Cup competition between the two schools.
- The Trojans are 4-2-1 on their home pitch
