Helm and Armetta Earn SAC All-Tournament Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – A pair of Anderson University women's soccer players were named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament team after reaching the SAC semifinals, played over the weekend at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill. The Trojans fell, 2-1, in the semifinal match to the No. 2 seed Wingate Bulldogs.

Junior Abby Helm and freshman Kirsten Armetta were both named to the 2017 All-SAC Tournament team announced by the SAC office on Sunday afternoon.

Helm, a native of Dayton, Ohio started all 17 games for the Black and Gold between the posts. Helm recorded 97 totals saves and posted a .843 save percentage on the season. During the two SAC Championship matches, Helm tallied a total of 12 saves while netted the final penalty kick to advance the Trojans past Queens and into the semifinals

Armetta, a native of Berlin, Connecticut started 13 contests with one of her two starts coming in the SAC Championship semifinal match. Armetta took a total of 6 shots during the season with 5 coming on goal. The freshman forward scored the tying goal in the SAC Championship quarterfinal match to help extend play for the Black and Gold.

Anderson finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 6-9-2 while posting a 5-5 record in conference play.
