Women’s Soccer Falls in South Atlantic Conference Semifinals; 2-1

Rock Hill, S.C. – Anderson University women's season came to a close after falling, 2-1 to second-seeded Wingate in the semifinals of the South Atlantic Conference Championship Friday evening at Rock Hill's Manchester Meadows.

With the loss, the Trojans close out their 2017 season with a 6-9-2 overall record while the Bulldogs (11-3) advance to the finals of the SAC Championship to face the No. 1 seed Carson-Newman for a rematch of the last year's finals.

Wingate scored goals in the 18th and 19th minute to claim the early 2-0 lead.

Anderson's Lauren Allan scored her 6th goal of the season and fourth in the past four matches. The 21st minute goal cut the lead in half for the Black and Gold.

The three first half goals would prove to be the only scoring for either team, as the final 68 minutes of action were a draw.

Wingate narrowly outshot the Trojans 10-9 with AU having eight of their shots on goal. The Bulldogs also claimed a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior keeper Abby Helm recorded two saves on the night bringing her season total to 97 while recording a .843 save percentage.
