Erskine’s First Half Goal Holds; Trojans Fall 1-0

DUE WEST, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer stumbles, 1-0, in nonconference action on Wednesday afternoon at rival Erskine. The Flying Fleet picked up another Beville Cup point giving Erskine a 2-1 advantage early in the competition.

With the setback, the Trojans fall to 3-7-1 overall while Erskine improves to 5-6 overall.

Erskine's Katie Cauble scored her fourth goal of the season in the 26th minute which proved to be the eventual game-winner. Cauble's goal was assisted by Ani Miller-Wells.

Despite outshooting the Flying Fleet 15-6 and holding the corner advantage (7-3) the Black and Gold could not find the back of the net.

Erskine's keeper Abbigale Schmidt tallied nine saves on the afternoon while AU's Abby Helm recorded two for the Trojans.

Anderson returns home on Saturday to host South Atlantic Conference opponent Catawba. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
