Jacobs Named Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach

Anderson, S.C - Anderson University women's soccer head coach Julie Carlson has named Sarah Jacobs as the team's new assistant coach, announced by Carlson on Monday.

The native of Greer S.C., played collegiately at Clemson University (2008-11) earning the team MVP in 2010. After exhausting her eligibility at Clemson, Jacobs extended her playing career joining the Carolina Elite Cobras in Greenville, S.C. After several stops around the professional ranks, Jacobs most recently was a member with the FC Dallas, Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL), in Frisco, Texas.

"We are very delighted to have Sarah become a member of our coaching staff," said Carlson. "She will bring a plethora of high level coaching and playing experience with her after being in the WPSL and the ACC. She will be a great asset to our players' development and leadership growth with her knowledge of being a captain and knowing what it takes to be a champion. Sarah will oversee several areas of our program on and off the field in her new role. She and I discussed her aspirations to get into college coaching and I feel that she has a lot of potential and a great frame of mind to coach collegiately."

Currently, Jacobs holds her USSF National "D" License and has served in a variety of roles in several different soccer organizations over the past four years which include camp coach, youth coach, club administrator and assistant varsity coach.

"Sarah came highly recommended to me from good friends in the business," noted Carlson. "She is very patient and articulates well on the field. She is not new to the area as she is from South Carolina and grew up here. This will be great for in state and in region recruiting. Sarah is very strong in her faith and will be a great guide for our athletes to help them learn, be at their best, understand the relationship with their faith and athletic performance and manage through balancing academics and athletic lifestyles that comes with winning championships."

Jacobs earned her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Teaching from Clemson while earning a Masters of Education from Anderson in 2013.
