ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Nationally fifth-ranked Florida Tech blanked Anderson, 2-0, in non-conference women's soccer action at the Flagler Kick-Off Classic Saturday afternoon at Saints Field.

Anderson (0-2-0) threatened early, but sophomore midfielder Allie Waters' attempt at the 10:08 mark was blocked.

Florida Tech (2-0-0) struck first, capitalizing on a corner kick with senior defender Ann-Marie Helgestad recording her first goal of the season in the 14th minute after the ball deflected off a Trojan defender.

Late in the opening half, the Panthers, who are favored to claim the Sunshine State Conference title, increased their lead to 2-0 at the 39:43 mark when junior midfielder Kelly Whittaker found the back of the net on her second shot of the afternoon.

FIT outshot the Trojans 20-4 on the afternoon and held a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal, while recording five corner kicks.

Waters, who tallied a pair of goals in the tough setback to Flagler Thursday night, tallied two shots, while Jessica Kleinberg and Adrienne Lough fired one shot apiece.

Anderson continues its season-opening four-match road swing by visiting Converse on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
