Women’s Golf in First Place Following Opening Round of AU Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – With sophomore Anna Freeman and freshman Kerington Lamb each posting 3-over-par 75s, the Anderson University women's golf team leads the AU Invitational following opening-round action Monday at the 5,825 yard, par-72 Cobb's Glen Country Club layout.

The host Trojans hold a 17-stroke lead over Catawba in their quest for a second-straight title, while Erskine is in third place – two shots further back. Converse holds the fourth spot, with Belmont Abbey in fifth. King is in sixth place entering Tuesday's final round, while Southern Wesleyan, Emmanuel and
Spartanburg Methodist round out the nine-team field.

Erskine's Anna Parramore carded a 2-over-par 74 and leads Freeman and Lamb by a single stroke, with Catawba's Sarah Coltrane and AU senior Tiffany Elam sharing fourth place after notching 4-over-par 76s.

Junior Kate Hill carded a 7-over-par 79 and is in seventh place, with freshman Victoria Hall tied for eighth place after notching a 9-over-par 81. Senior Makalyn Poole posted a 10-over-par 82 and shares 12th place, while fellow senior Samantha Ellison recorded a 13-over-par 85 and is tied for 26th.

Tuesday's second round is slated to get underway at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
