Women’s Golf in Tar Heel State for Patsy Rendleman Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following a three-week layoff after winning the AU Invitational, the Anderson women's golf team will travel to North Carolina for the two-day Patsy Rendleman Invitational, which will be hosted by Catawba, Monday and Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury.

This fall marks the Trojans' seventh consecutive appearance at the 36-hole event, with last year's sixth-place finish marking the Black and Gold's best finish. A pair of AU golfers – Tiffany Elam and Kate Hill – notched top-10 finishes a year ago, with Elam carding six birdies during the tournament and finishing tied for sixth place. Hill posted seven birdies and jumped from a tie for 14th after the opening round into ninth place.

Makalyn Poole finished the tournament in 31st place, with Riley Lovorn finishing in a tie for 55th place. Classmate Blake Hodges shared the 60th slot a year ago.

The Trojans are coming off their first-ever win at the AU Invitational in mid-September, after Hill fired a two-day 6-over-par 150 and finished in second place by just one stroke. Elam led the AU Invitational field by reaching par on 21 holes over the course of the two-day event, while junior Samantha Ellison reached par on 20 holes.

Elam finished in a tie for fifth after firing a 162, while Lovorn (81-82=163) shared seventh place with freshman Anna Freeman (83-80=163). Ellison finished alone in 10th place following a two-round 167, while Poole (89-84=173) was 17th. Hodges rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 21st with a two-day 187.
