Mollenhauer Named South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University women's basketball Alexy Mollenhauer has earned one final honor to an already impressive junior campaign, as she was named the South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year, released Wednesday by the conference office.

The native of Lindale, Texas becomes the first Anderson University athlete (male or female) to earn this prestigious honor. Lincoln Memorial's Sam Broadhurst (Men's Golf) earned the 2019 Male SAC Athlete of the Year.

"To be recognized by the conference as the Female Athlete of the Year is a tremendous honor and a testament to all of the hard work she puts in day in and day out," head coach Jonathon Barbaree said. "Alexy is a special individual and we are so proud of this accomplishment and how well she represents Anderson University."

Mollenhauer started in all 33 games and averaged 34.1 minutes, 19.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game to go along with 43 blocks and 39 steals. She was named SAC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP, while also being named the D2CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year, was a D2CCA First Team All-America, WBCA All-America and the SAC Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year. The six-time SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week eclipsed the 1,000-point mark, recorded 22 double-doubles, and pulled down 369 rebounds.
