Trojans Advance to SAC Semifinals by Eliminating Catawba; 90-79

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's basketball team placed six players in double-digit scoring to eliminate the eighth-seeded Indians, 90-79, on Wednesday evening at the Abney Athletic Center.

With the victory, the Trojans move to 27-2 overall while Catawba's season comes to a close with a 13-15 overall record.

KEY STATS

  • The Trojans bench outscored the Indians reserves 39-19.
  • Anderson dished out 19 assists.
  • The Black and Gold shot 12-of-24(50%) from behind the arc.
  • Anderson placed six players in double-digit scoring.

 NOTES

 -Sophomore's Taylor Hair and Alexis Tate sparked the Trojans with high energy and efficient play. Hair netted 15 points draining three baskets from downtown while grabbing three rebounds in 21 minutes of action. Tate ripped down a career-high 10 rebounds.
-Senior Ace Easter scored 15 points while dishing out three assists.
- Junior Alexy Mollenhauer spent most of the first half on the bench hampered with two fouls. Mollenhauer was able to contribute 12 points while pulling down eight rebounds.
-Junior Madison Baggett chipped in five points while collecting six rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
- Redshirt junior Cassie Ketchum went 3-of-7 from behind the arc while scoring a lay-up to add 11 points to the Trojans total.
- Junior Makayla Green scored 11 points, grabbed two rebounds while dishing out three assists in 20 minutes of action.
-Junior Madison Baggett chipped in 10 points, chased down three rebounds and was credited with six assists.
-Junior Amari Grevious played strong underneath grabbing six rebounds while dropping in three points.
- Catawba placed four players in double-digits with Taisha DeShazo scoring a game-high 18 points..  
-The Black and Gold have won 25 straight games.

Anderson advances to the SAC semifinals to face No.4 Lenoir-Rhyne, hosted by Furman University (Timmons Arena), on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for noon.
