Ketchum and Mollenhauer Named First-Team Academic All-District

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University redshirt junior Cassie Ketchum and junior Alexy Mollenhauer has been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), early Thursday afternoon.

The team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Ketchum started every game this season, while averaging 24.5 minutes per contest. She is fifth on the team with her 5.6 per game average and is tied for 11th in the South Atlantic Conference in 3-point field goal percentage (37.5%).

The Orlando, Fla., native netted a season-high 15 points during the in-region contest vs Lander in early December and played a career high 36 minutes at Lincoln Memorial two weeks ago.

Mollenhauer has made all 25 starts this season and currently is second in scoring within the SAC with a 19.6 per game average, while leading the SAC with 11.5 rebounds per contest.

The Lindale, Texas, native has recorded 17 double-doubles while scoring at least 20 points or more in 14 games. She has earned the SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week on five occasions.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
