DURANGO, Colo. – The Anderson University women's basketball catapulted four places to the fourth slot after defeating previously ranked No. 6 Lander from the Peach Belt Conference in the Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee on Monday.
Anderson clawed back in the rankings a week ago into the eighth spot. With the Trojans continuing its solid play they enjoy their highest ranking of the season (No. 4). Wingate still claims the highest ranked team from the SAC at No. 2 with Newberry in the third position. Carson-Newman slips to the fifth spot while Lenoir-Rhyne lands in the eight position from the unranks. Tusculum maintains a tie for tenth.
The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its fifth year of existence. The regional poll is released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.
Anderson returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to nonconference opponent University of Alabama-Huntsville. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m.
