ANDERSON, S.C. – Despite losing three starters off of last year's team, third-year head coach Jonathon Barbaree is looking for the 2018-19 version of Anderson women's basketball to make a run at both the South Atlantic Conference championship and NCAA championship this season.
Barbaree, who guided the Trojans to a 20-11 overall and 13-7 (3rd) SAC record and an 12th trip to the NCAA Tournament return a very talented and athletic core group including Preseason All-SAC selections Alexy Mollenhauer and Madison Baggett.
The Trojans won six out of seven games to close out regular season to earn the 3rd seed and host the first round of the SAC Tournament. The Black and Gold defeated Tusculum before falling to Wingate in the SAC semifinals. Anderson was selected as a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament where No. 1 seeded Carson-Newman defeated the Trojans, 70-62, ending the Black and Gold's season.
The 2018-19 Anderson roster is compiled of two seniors, six juniors, two sophomores and three freshman with the positions breaking down into eight guards, four forwards and one center.

The Trojans will open up with Clayton State on Friday at the SAC/PBC Challenge hosted by Clayton State. Anderson defeated the Lakers in last year's season opener, 79-36. Anderson will remain on the road on Saturday to take on Georgia College before playing its next three out of four games in the friendly confines of the Abney Athletic Center.
The first home game of the season will be Wednesday Nov. 14 against Peach Belt Conference opponent Young Harris. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
